Summary:

Torres, who was originally acquired from the Angels in the Scott Kazmir trade, continues to fly under the radar in Tampa Bay, mainly because of the presence of RHP Jeremy Hellickson and LHP Matt Moore the past two years. Torres is quietly putting together an outstanding season after advancing to Triple-A Durham in 2011. He throws a solid fastball with good movement, and his changeup is currently a better, more consistent pitch than his curveball. Though when he has a feel for the curve, it shows the potential to be another plus weapon for the lefty.

He'll spend most of 2012 working on his command, and reducing the number of walks he surrenders, while waiting for an opportunity in the rotation in Tampa. There's a chance he might crack the big league squad out of the bullpen first, especially with the depth of young starters the Rays have.
